• As an author, filmmaker, and speaker I’ve had the great honor of being welcomed into the lives, homes, and passions of luminaries and of everyday heroes around the world.

Whether I’m conducting research on the streets of Honduras, interviewing a spiritual leader in Indonesia, or speaking to a women’s group in Finland, what I find is that everyone everywhere seeks the same things: Love. Wholeness. Purpose.

I believe the most effective way to touch those who would like to manifest stronger love, more wholeness, and a better sense of purpose is through books, films, and talks that entertain, educate, and inspire. In sharing the stories of those who have chosen to step bravely into their highest purpose, we are encouraged to do the same.

Thank you for including me and my work in your journey.

Eating with Reverence: Food for the Soul

For centuries, the Balinese have offered up daily prayers for the entire life cycle of food, from the planting of the seed to the harvest, and from the preparation of the ingredients to the finished dish. The Maya have created each celebratory meal with the “holy trinity” of Mayan cuisine—maize, frijoles, and squash—each of which holds deep spiritual significance. The Keralites have focused their culinary energies on meeting the deeply personal physical, mental, and spiritual needs of those for whom they cook.

What does the way in which we in the US raise, purchase, prepare, and eat our foods say about us? What does it say about our concern for environmental sustainability?  How does it speak to the way in which we regard our bodies, our communities, and the universe at large?

In engaging and thought-provoking sessions including group exercises, Eating with Reverence explores the sacred culinary traditions of the past, and how we can call on these teachings to better nourish our bodies, minds, and spirits—as well as our planet–today.

Up from the Depths: Rebuilding a Life in Ruins

For nine years, Shannon Kring was dedicated to making all of her Master Chef husband’s dreams come true. Once they’d achieved it all—an Emmy Award-winning TV cooking series, a cookware line and QVC deal, award-winning cookbooks, product endorsements, successful restaurants and culinary schools, and much more—Shannon realized too late that she’d lost something far greater than she’d gained: her husband’s love and her own sense of purpose. Following months of paralyzing depression, she booked a ticket to Honduras, the country whose name translates literally to the depths. She had no way of knowing what awaited her in this strange land, or just how fitting its name would prove to be.

A truly unforgettable keynote told with self-deprecating humor and bald honesty, Up from the Depths recounts the compelling story of Shannon’s experiences living with a Maya shaman and working alongside Maya Chortí women in a traditional Honduran kitchen. It will leave audiences inspired, energized, and in awe of what can happen when you leave behind the life you’ve known, and find yourself in a most unfamiliar place.

    Beyond Bratwurst: The New Germany

Future dates TBD by Shannon and interested parties

This unforgettable tour, set against a fairy tale-worthy backdrop, dispels the misconception that many Americans have about German cuisine: that it is brown, heavy, and blah.  Germany is actually the birthplace of contemporary organic farming, and today, its agricultural products and the foods derived from them are produced under some of the world’s strictest organic guidelines.  Today’s German cuisine is therefore fresh, flavorful, nutrient-packed, and much like the country itself today: a tribute to tradition, a reflection of the present, and an awe-inspiring glimpse of what’s to come.

    Tour includes:

    • 7 nights private lodging accommodations
    • Group airport and all ground transfers
    • 2 cooking classes: 1 for modern German cuisine, and 1 for wine
    • 2 culinary excursions: 1 to an artisanal dairy farm, and 1 to a bakery
    • Guided tour of Dresden
    • Thermal springs visit
    • 2 meals per day

    $2,850/person double

    Eating with the Ancients

Shannon has brought these powerful teachings to Omega Institute, Institute of Noetic Sciences, and National Wellness Conference. Now she’s bringing them to you, wherever you are in the world. Six-week web course begins soon!

What does the way in which we in North America raise, purchase, prepare, and eat our foods say about us? What does it say about our concern for environmental sustainability?  How does it speak to the way in which we regard our bodies, our communities, and the universe at large?

In engaging and thought-provoking sessions including group and individual exercises, recipes, and live Q&A, we will explore the sacred culinary traditions of the past, and how we can call on these teachings to better nourish our bodies, minds, and spirits—as well as our planet—today.

    Included among the topics are:

    • Intentional cooking,
    • Symbolic cooking
    • Elemental cooking (including yin yang practices and macrobiotics),
    • Essence cooking,
    • Ayurvedic cuisine,
    • Mindful eating,
    • “Power” and “embodiment” ingredients through the ages,
    • and much more.

    Together, we will:

    • Learn to shift thoughts and behaviors to become conscious shoppers, food preparers, and eaters,
    • Explore age-old ingredients and cooking methods that bridge ancient wisdom and the modern world,
    • Come to see eating as a deeply meaningful, symbolic act,
    • Transform preconceived notions about “good” and “bad” foods,
    • Receive recipes featuring “power” ingredients and time-honored culinary techniques,
    • Learn to cultivate a spirit of harmony within your kitchen, dining room, and own body,
    • Complete powerful group and individual exercises,
    • and much more.

This six-week web course begins in early 2015.  To receive full details, contact us.

    Secrets of the Ancient Healers

For thousands of years, there have existed men and women who could harness the power of nature to heal others. They have been known by many different names, and their legends live on to this day.  However, with the rise and fall of each great civilization, much of this knowledge was forgotten, and believed to be lost forever. Until now.

Luckily for us all, it turns out that much of this ancient wisdom was simply guarded for centuries. Only recently have the medicine keepers begun to come forward and share their time-tested traditions with those they can trust. We are honored to be among the few who have been invited to document and share this precious natural healing knowledge with the masses.

Now is your opportunity to bring this powerful knowledge into your home. Learn more.
